His talent then led him to Antwerp to work for designers such as Raf Simons and Dirk Schoenberger. Inspired by artists such as Gottfried Helnwein, Joseph Beuys, and Gerhard Richter, his collections are heavy in material and textile research and embody soft shapes. For his new collection, however, he was inspired by the artist Anselm Kiefer, which led to the use of melancholic colors and fluid drapes.

Joy Ahoulou and Simon Burgunder of Basel, Switzerland have been friends for several years. They both completed a tailoring apprenticeship and later studied Fashion Design at The University of Applied Arts in Basel. After receiving two grants for their post graduate collections from the Federal Office of Culture, they decided to work as a team and develop their own line called Ahoulou Burgunder. Inspired by the notion of manhood, their designs explore the limits of masculinity and feminity – using fabrics from the likes of Schläpfer, Forster Rohner etc. for instance – with derision and fun.

When they got together in 2002, Vava, a fashion designer, was working with Fabrice Lorrain on the mythical and nonconformist collection ” Vava Dudu”, which was a hit with the hip and trendy across the globe. As for Stéphane, a musician and graphic artist, as a member of the collective France Fiction, published the magazine “revue d’art pratique” 9/9. They decided to present their collection in CD form. The music on their first self-produced CD was recorded. And Nikolu, who was a member of various bands (ii, Genau, Lustrine), joined La Chatte in 2003, when he met Vava and they both fell madly in love.

These days, Vava still roams around the fashion world without submitting its codes. Her passion for clothes is the secret of her livelihood. She sketches and invents psychedelic outfits.
